Attention NCWD Customers

The Middleborough Water Department recently violated a drinking water standard for the sum of six per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances called PFAS6 at the East Grove Street Well. A PFAS6 MCL violation occurs when the quarterly average of samples collected exceeds 20 ng/L. The North Carver Water District interconnected with the Middleborough water supply on December 1, 2023. PFAS6 levels for the month of December were reported at 24.98 ng/L.

Middleborough is taking the following corrective actions:

  • Design of a permanent PFAS treatment system at East Grove Street Well is currently underway. Construction of the treatment system is expected to begin in Summer 2025.
  • East Grove Street Well will remain in operation to meet demand but will run at a reduced capacity and will be removed from service when demand is low.

We encourage you to read the attached Public Notice for information on PFAS, including steps you can take to reduce exposure. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
